Sound Sculptures

The first project of El Warcha Davis “Sound Sculptures” is inspired through collaboration with the street musicians of Davis’s unhoused community. The sculptures are made out of reclaimed PVC pipe that are cut, reshaped, and arranged into resonate percussion pipes. Banging upon the end of each pipe produces a fixed tone. Each sculpture is arranged into musical chords.

The unhoused community of Davis brings a creative, free, and dynamic atmosphere to the Downtown area through music and performances. Sound sculptures installed downtown in public spaces encourage musical collaborations between strangers and allows the participation of those who lack musical instruments and training.
